Buildings Energy & Water Efficiency Assessments

We use two major assessment tools to evaluate the energy and water efficiency of both new and existing buildings such as hotels, offices and commercial buildings to hospitals and educational facilities.

EDGE is an internationally recognised tool which we use to carry out high level performance assessments against a comprehensive range of energy and water efficiency measures that could be applied to a building. The results provide the basis for prioritising measures against capex availability before progressing to final design and implementation.

PHPP, the Passive House Planning Policy tool, from the Passive House Trust is used to refine the design and      ROI of the selected efficiency measures and to develop a product and installation specification.

Both tools:

  • Use advanced building physics simulation software to evaluate the energy and water performance of a building;

  • Use location specific data such as climate, utility costs and local design codes;

  • Evaluate a range of energy and water efficiency measures to improve performance;

  • Report on cost effectiveness of efficiency measures, ROI etc, thus assisting in design and investment decisions.

A recent project involved conducting a comparative performance analysis for a proposed new domestic dwelling against current national building codes and passive house standards. See Case Studies.
